Thermal Reduction of Graphene Oxide

In a two-dimensional carbon system for graphene (GP), three carbon electrons in four hybridized bonding electrons (2s12px12py12pz1) form strong in-plane sp2 bonds consisting of a honeycomb structure, and a fourth electron spreads out over the top or bottom of the layer as a π electron. The π electrons play an important role in the coupling interactions of multilayered GPs. A two-dimensionally s...

The reduction of graphene oxide

Graphene has attracted great interest for its excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal and optical properties. It can be produced by micro-mechanical exfoliation of highly ordered pyrolytic graphite, epitaxial growth, chemical vapor deposition, and the reduction of graphene oxide (GO). The first three methods can produce graphene with a relatively perfect structure and excellent properties, wh...

Visible-light Induced Reduction of Graphene Oxide Using Plasmonic Nanoparticle.

Present work demonstrates the simple, chemical free, fast, and energy efficient method to produce reduced graphene oxide (r-GO) solution at RT using visible light irradiation with plasmonic nanoparticles. The plasmonic nanoparticle is used to improve the reduction efficiency of GO. It only takes 30 min at RT by illuminating the solutions with Xe-lamp, the r-GO solutions can be obtained by compl...

Highly efficient reduction of graphene oxide using ammonia borane.

We introduce ammonia borane, a versatile reducing agent for graphene oxide (GO) reduction in both aqueous and organic solvents; it is nontoxic and more effective than hydrazine. More interestingly, ammonia borane reduction of GO tetrahydrofuran produced higher nitrogen- and boron-doped graphene that exhibited high supercapacitor performance.

Performance comparison of graphene and graphene oxide-supported palladium nanoparticles as a highly efficient catalyst in oxygen reduction

In this work, the performance of graphene nanosheets (GNs) and graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets, as a support for palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), was studied. The graphene nanosheets were functionalized by a new and simple method. The PdNPs were synthesized on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with GNs or GO via a potentiostatic method; without using...
